At the annual conference of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, all members were asked to nominate a charity that was involved in projects related to responsible tourism, and Sunvil nominated KATs. Graeme Neill of Sunvil had to give a talk at the conference and persuade the other tour operators that we were worthy of an award. Six other charities were also nominated for awards. In the event, their fund raising activities were so successful that all seven of the nominated charities were granted awards.
We have already received and banked the cheque for 1000 GBP which will be used to build more shelters at our new location in Menigata.
AITO asked Sunvil Holidays that they make acknowledgement of the gesture in whatever literature they publish, which means that Sunvil are also giving us more brochure/promotion space for 2005.
