A Visit And Donation from First Choice Holidays

We were delighted on May 1st to receive a visit from representatives of First Choice Holidays, one of the UK’s most popular tour companies, with a significant presence in Kefalonia. Unfortunately, Pat was in England on charity business at the time, but our treasurer, Claudia Stellatou, was on hand to accept a cheque for 600 Euros which resulted from several fund raising events held by the First Choice reps in the summer of 2006.

Reps Toni Marshall, Rosanna Sparks, Lucy Chan, Deborah Wilbee and Dave McNivan, enjoyed of the premises at Menegata, and enjoyed meeting the donkeys and (of course) Gertie the goat.

Kefalonia Supervisor, Sarah Cunningham, who has worked on the island for several years, is very enthusiastic and keen to help support the charity again this summer. The reps will be arranging many fund raising evenings this summer in the various resorts and have also kindly taken collecting tins, for any loose change departing passengers may want to donate.

Thanks to First Choice and their reps, and of course to all the holidaymakers who participated in the fund raising events!

Postscript: June 19th 2007

First Choice have once again come up trumps for Kefalonia Animal Trust. The income from the sale of children’s activity packs on the island is shared between their officially supported UK charity, and a charity in the resort. The UK charity is the NSPCC, and we were pleased to be nominated and approved as the Kefalonia charity of choice.

A big thanks to Karen Bolton, the First Choice Resort Manager in Kefalonia for supporting us and helping to bring us to the attention of the UK, and, of course, to all the reps, the management and customers of First Choice.
