On 17th March, we held a Quiz and Bingo night at the International Restaurant in Lakithra. As well as the quiz, there was a competition for the best named team. Joan, Pete and Sam from Platies performed some Irish songs in somewhat outlandish costumes. We can’t tell you the winners of the quiz, as they had chosen a name which is not really suitable for publication! Pat provided the questions and acted as quiz-master.
The bingo was a somewhat DIY affair, the balls being made by Pat and Anne, from a mixture of fishing floats and Christmas decorations! They were picked out of Barrie’s famous tombola machine and placed in large egg cartons.
Our bingo caller, who had never played bingo in his life, worked from a crib-sheet (two fat ladies etc.). The second part of the evening took on a somewhat surreal atmosphere when he lost his crib sheet, and took to inventing his own bingo terms (can anyone guess what “A sort of snake coming out of a basket, next to a bust stop” means?).
We didn’t set out to raise lots of money at this event, as we felt it would be good to do something that just encouraged a bit of community spirit amongst KATs fund raisers and supporters. Nevertheless, we made a respectable 281 € and had a good time as well!
