I’m Sharon, and my first contact with KATs came in November 2003 when I adopted my street dog ‘Aliti’ (Greek for Tramp). He was a scruffy mutt who’d been stalking me all summer, desperately trying to be my pet.
I didn’t think I could handle working 7 days a week and being a responsible dog owner so I was determined not to give in. But as time went on he was run over, hit, kicked and had a lighter flicked into his eye for a laugh.
The final straw came at the end of the season when the street dogs were rapidly disappearing and Aliti was shot in the leg.
