More of Sharon’s Skala Stories

Flora

Flora is an 11 year old bitch who belongs to a Greek family in Skala. In typical Greek fashion, she had litter after litter and her puppies were dumped to die pretty much every time.

She was heavily pregnant again this summer and KATs agreed to euthanise the puppies rather than have them suffer a slow, cruel death. They also offered to neuter Flora but by the time the owner was approached the puppies had already been disposed of and there was total disinterest in the idea of neutering mum.

The attitude was that she would die soon and they’d probably be able to keep her away from other dogs in the meantime.  (Though if they didn’t, it wouldn’t matter very much anyway.) In the end the owner, Roula, was persuaded and Flora had the op.  Roula sat in on the procedure and was shocked to learn that neutering an animal involves an operation like humans have. She was so amazed, she insisted on making a detour back from the vets to share the news with her son (who also didn’t believe it) and was astounded to see that Flora both made a full recovery and regained perfect health afterwards.

Roula has now obtained vouchers from KATs and had all 5 of her cats neutered.
