Jennifer came to KATs in February 2006. She had been owned by an elderly man who could no longer care for her. She was in a really bad way and, at first, everyone feared that she would never survive. She had arthritis so severe that walking was difficult and painful and she had been fitted with headgear so tight she could hardly open her mouth to eat. This meant she was slowly starving to death. With advice from the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth she has responded well and is now walking without pain and gaining weight, though her food still has to be cut into small pieces.
