In August we were out travelling and wanted to come back to Kefalonia in time to see the phenomenon of the snakes at Markopoulos, which every year appear in the middle of August and freely move from different places dawn the streets, towards the church. After the 15th of August they disappear again. Unfortunately we came one day too late, but because we tried so hard to make it in time, the snake goddess kept something special for us: a small cat that was about to die, in front of the church.
His condition was very bad - he seemed that he had all the disease of the world a cat could ever have, and he was obviously dying from hunger, and was not capable to move very much. When we tried to lift him it sounded like he had a plastic bag under his skin. His head was covered with old wounds from scratches, and as well as that, it seemed like he only had only one eye. We accepted the present, and named him Lucifus (the snake) second name: Samnael, from the Hebrew language ( Sami ) which means “blind”.
We decided to keep him for good, and after some time when the crust from his wounds on his head started to disappear, he opened the eye we thought was not there!
Today he remember himself always being a beautiful cat.
