New Year Party

By all accounts, the party was a great success, and a good time was had by all!

The party took place at the Kafe Neon in Kaligata, and was attended by the Mayor, which helped us to score a public relations coup, as well as raise some funds for animal welfare in Kefalonia.

In Greece, New Year’s Eve is traditionally a time to be with the family and open the Christmas presents, so it was particularly nice that a number of people just dropped in to make a donation on their way home!

Peter and Jenny kindly supplied the sound system and CDs, and somewhat unkindly forced everyone to have a go at the Karaoke (just kidding!).

The heart-warming part was that some of the Greek patrons came up to Pat and gave her a donation for the charity, which totalled 95 €. We had a raffle which raised 40 € and had a further 100 € handed to us the following day by the owner of the Kafe Neon. Not bad considering that due to misunderstanding, there were less than 30 of us there!

Our chief photographer was somewhat the worse for wear, so you may find the you don’t need a drink to experience it through the eyes of the revellers.

Kafe Neon laid on a good spread.

Steve entertained us with a song, while Karen entertained her new toy-boy, Lloyd.

Mr and Mrs S Claus (Roger & friend) dropped by to add their encouragement, and brought their own backing group, the Svoronettes, Pat, Karen and Jenny.

Jenny tries to explain the difference between a microphone and a bottle of beer to Dave.

Pat shares a joke with Bill.
