Pipi comes to stay

Late Summer 2002. It’s been a bad year for us. Twiglet, our 15 year old insulin-dependant cat got lost, and by the time we found him he was virtually comatose. He died the same night. His brother, Zapple, seemed to lose all heart, and died not long after. We are left with Lucy, who is also getting on in years, and have sworn (as we all do) that we will never have another cat, as we just can’t face them dying.
Niki rings to say that a tiny kitten has appeared at the Blue Horizon Hotel, and she is worried because a rather large dog is taking a somewhat sinister interest. We explain that there is NO WAY we are going to take on another cat, so she says “OK, I’ll find someone else, why not just come down for a drink?”
Pipi, moves in later that day.
